The inaugural gay bisexual, lesbian, transgender, intersex and queer multicultural conference was held in Melbourne in October 2004. It was an inspiring conference for young queers from multicultural backgrounds because for many of us, it was the first time we had a chance to discuss issues that we felt were unique to our experiences.

8 years on from that conference and the issues discussed are still very relevant for bisexuals, lesbians, gays, transgenders, intersex and queer people today.

Juan Alejandro Lumos was one of the people who spoke at the conference on the topic of being transgender. This speech was first broadcast on Accent of Women in December 2004.</itunes:summary>
